Medical Treatments

When lifestyle measures are insufficient, medical interventions are available. Sclerotherapy is a common minimally invasive procedure where a solution is injected into the vein, causing it to collapse and gradually fade. Laser treatments are another option, using targeted light energy to close off smaller veins. For more severe cases, procedures like endovenous ablation or vein stripping may be recommended. Endovenous ablation uses radiofrequency or laser energy to seal off affected veins, while vein stripping involves removing the damaged veins through small incisions. These procedures are generally safe and performed with local anesthesia, allowing patients to recover quickly and resume normal activities.


Preventive Measures

Preventing varicose veins or keeping them from worsening is equally important. Wearing supportive footwear, avoiding tight clothing around the thighs, and practicing regular leg stretches can improve circulation. A diet rich in fiber and low in salt can prevent constipation and fluid retention, which may aggravate vein problems.
